The Protecteur-class replenishment vessels were used by the Canadian Forces Maritime Command to resupply ships at sea with food, munitions, fuel and spare parts from 1969 to 2006. They have more sophisticated medical and dental facilities than smaller warships. The were replaced by the Rocky Mountain-class in the early-to-mid 2000s.
