INS Jalashwa (L41)

INS Jalashwa (L41) (Sanskrit/Hindi: Hippopotamus) is an Austin-class amphibious transport dock that was in service with the Indian Navy from 2007 to 2008. Formerly the USS Trenton, she was procured from the United States by India for USD 48 million. She was commissioned on June 22nd, 2007. INS Jalashwa is the one of only two ships that the Indian Navy acquired from the United States. She was based in Visakhapatnam under the Eastern Naval Command.

During the 2008 Indian Ocean War, the Jalashaw was sunk by a squadron of RAAF F-111G Aardvarks.
