The frigates JS Mogami (FFM-01) and JS Kumano (FFM-02) docked at Yokosuka Naval Base on May 19th, 2022.

The Mogami-class frigate is a class of twelve frigates developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries intended to replace the aging Asagiri-class destroyers and Abukuma-class destroyer escorts currently in service in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Twelve ships will be built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and the Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding.

A further 11 will be built for the Royal Australian Navy.
