Harbin Z-20

The Harbin Z-20 or Zhi-20 is medium lift helicopter produced by the Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation in northern China. Its first flight was on December 23rd, 2013. The Z-20 helicopter has a maximum takeoff weight in the range of 10 tons, can drop troops at locations of up to 3,000 ft (914.4 meters) altitude, and could operate from the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning. It is thought to be comparable to the American made Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, the civilian Sikorsky S-70C-2 variant of which has been used by the People's Liberation Army since 1984.
Variants[edit | edit source]
- Z-20: Base transport variant. Can be equipped with up to 8 KD-10 missiles.
- Z-20F: Naval ASW variant. Equipped with surface radar under nose, pylon for torpedoes, dipping sonar under belly and bubble window for observation.
- Z-20S: Multi-role utility variant. Equipped with FLIR. Can be equipped with up to 8 KD-10 missiles.
