The Type 45 Destroyers, (also known as the D or Daring class), are a class of air defence destroyers built for the British Royal Navy. The Daring class were built to replace the Type 42 destroyers, the last of which is due to be decommissioned by 2013. It is also expected to replace the Type 43 destroyers by 2028. The first ship in the Daring-class, HMS Daring, was launched on February 1st, 2000 and commissioned on July 23rd, 2003. Originally, the Type 45 was only going to be an air defense vessel, however during the development stage, it grew in size and gained land attack, anti-ship, and anti-submarine capablities turning it into a multirole destroyer,
