The Type 43 Destroyer is a class of destroyer in the Royal Navy. The Type 43s were a follow on from the Type 42s but armed with the Sea Dart Mk.II missile. The primary role of the Type 43 was to protect a task force from air-launched missile attack. In the mid-2000s, the Type 43 destroyers would undergo an extensive midlife refit allowing them to serve into the 2020s.
