Kirov-class Battlecruiser

From Canadian Power Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The Kirov-class Battlecruiser is a class of large nuclear powered guided missile cruisers in the Russian, Indian, and Chinese navies. During its development during the Cold War, it spurred the US to bring back the Iowa-class battleships back into service during the 1980s. After the end of the Cold War, most of the Kirov-class cruisers were laid up and mothballed as part of the post-Cold War peace dividend. Recently, the Russian Navy has begun overhauling the Kirovs so that they can be brought back into service. The Admiral Ushakov is also being sold to India to be its flagship. The Chinese have also ordered a pair of new build Kirov-class cruisers for their navy.
