The 30DEX is a proposed class of eight destroyer escorts developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries intended to replace the six aging Abukuma-class destroyer escorts currently in service in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Eight ships will be built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and the Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding.
